Regular vs. Sealed Floor Pocket

Which is right for your style of boating?

Regular Floor Pocket:

  • Self Bailing
  • Aids in tracking & stability
  • While on the river, water will enter the drain holes & add ballast to the boat
  • The extra ballast creates a low center of gravity which helps the raft “stick” to the water, helping to prevent flips & keep rafts “on line”

Recommended for:

  • Comes standard with all rafts
  • Great choice for paddle rafts of all sizes
  • Rafting big and technical whitewater

Sealed Floor Pocket:

  • Self Bailing
  • Does not take on any water to ballast, making the raft slightly faster & more responsive in whitewater
  • At the take out, owners don’t have to wait for the water to drain out of the floor pocket
  • No need to rinse out the floor pocket after trips down silty rivers

Recommended for:

  • Good choice for rowing heavy gear haulers & fishing rafts, where you back-row frequently
  • Rivers that require portages
  • Good option when mostly running silty rivers

Cub

The Cub is a little raft with a BIG attitude. It excels in its element of R1-R3 rafting in rowdy and technical whitewater and was designed with ultimate playboating in mind. We pushed the Cub’s limits out on the Gauley River in the fall of 2019. The boat was super nimble and exceeded all expectations.
